UMSP 6.5 Source Window Error

Hi All,

File type Matrox MJPG Captured with Matrox PC-VCR

Whenever I try to use the source window in Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5 I get this message:

Unable to play the video file using MCI commands. MCI reports MMSYSTEM296. The file may be corrupt or not in the correct format.

This will appear about half way on a large clip.
In Windows Media Player the clip will play without problems.

I have tried the drivers and tols that you suggested for Win 2K. They worked perfectly on my system. I capture 4gb at a time and have no problems whatsoever!!

When you say just about 2 Gb, do you mean just about a little more? If so, there's your answer. Use AVI-IO for your capture and keep the contiguous files to under 2 Gb (I used to set them at 1 Gb). Hardware MJPEG has a file size limit, even on NTFS. You may be able to save the situation with a third party software MJPEG codec.

To be exact 1.91 Gig. Every thing works fine exept the source window in Ulead Media Studio Pro 6.5

By-the-way I am on Win98SE and if I capture via AVI_IO there will be no problems. I just wanted to know what the error message is all about and why AVI_IO produces an error free clip, using the same codec.
