  • frameloss capturing from Sony pcr120e ?

    Hello,

A friend of mine is having problems capturing video from a Sony PCR120e to his Dell computer (connected through firewire). He's using Adobe Premiere.
There appears to be a loss of frames, resulting in the movie no longer being smooth. Adobe Premiere gives a warning about this when the capturing starts.

I have not seen what he does, nor have I seen his configuration (I do know the Dell is a P4, and the firewire card was also purchased from Dell).

Are there any particular settings that might cause this loss of frames ? Any hints/tips on how to overcome this ?

    Thanks !

    forgot to mention:
This loss particularly occurs when there are a lot of changes in the sequence (e.g. panning or lot of movement).

    So, any ideas ?

I have look around some more, and I'm beginning to think his harddisk is to blame. The Matrox RTX10 requires the storage to be able to handel 12 MB/s; I'm having doubts whether the harddisk that was supplied as default is able to handle such transferrates (continously).

      Any comments ? Anyone ?
