  • AVISynth frameserving problem

Tried frameserving from Premiere 6.0 to TMPGEnc using AVISynth, and I thought all was going well. Halfway through the operation, at about the 48 minute mark (eight hours shot, but I ain't mad) it puked on me with an "out of memory" error. Settings were:

    MPEG2 DVD 704 x 480
(should I have used 720 x 480 and Center, preserve aspect ratio?)

    Interlaced
    Field order B
    CBR 3000
    video stream only
    Virtual memory 1024 MB

    Athlon 1200
    Marvel G200
    256 MB RAM
    Win98

Final (unusable) filesize was 920 MB. Project duration is 'prox' 90 minutes. Audio track saved seperately as WAV file.

    What else?

How much space was left on the C:\ drive after the render? You can get an out of memory error when rendering if TMPGEnc's temp file or the swapfile grow large enough to fill the boot drive.

You can move the temp file in the Options/Environmental setting.../General tab. A temp folder on the video drive is where I put it.

Also; have you tried it with VideoServer yet? If you're not doing any AVISynth image processing it might be smoother.

14 gigs free space on the boot drive. Didn't check it after the render. I'll try resetting TMPGEnc's swap file along with resizing the Windows swap file. If that doesn't work I'll try VideoServer.

      Thanks,

Interesting Morbid.....where do you find videoserver?...

I dont use AviSynth for any image enhancement - didnt think it necessary fom Prem. But if you can convice me then I'll keep using it...otherwise VideoServer soundz interesting.

PS - I have 7 partitions over 4 drives and have found AviSynth can get a little choose (to start) when the part0.avs file isnt in c:....or a root directory at least - well that's my assumption so far. TMPEGEnc - just wont kick in after activating AviSynth from Prem.

I've pretty much abandoned AVISynth because VideoServer works so well. That and TMPGEnc Plus has most of the built-in processing I need.
