  • MSP6: unannounced DV timeline patch

    On the Ulead server at:

    ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/MediaStudioPro6.0

I discovered that there is a new addition:

    07/28/2000 03:25AM 5,257,700 MSP6DVPatchII.exe

I ran this patch last night and checked it out, finding that there is a new project setting that can be selected: "DV AUDIO", with one for NTSC, and one for PAL. Using this setting for a project has completely handled the timeline playback of the transitions that I've tried so far on my PIII-500. No video glitches, no audio glitches around the edges of transitions yet. Granted, I haven't had time to do anything in depth, but the change is immediate cause for smiles and the rubbing together of hands in preparation of my next DV project!

Something else is in that update folder I hadn't noticed before: Switch.exe.

This apparently switches MSP6 from the MSDV codec to the Sony DV codecs .inf.

I spent a couple of hours this evening with the last project I had left on my system and was very pleased to have a complete project play off the timeline, replete with all sorts of filters and transitions, without a single glitch. This really does put the OHCI compliant "vanilla" 1394 setup on a par with DVRaptor now!

Doc: can you elaborate on the sony codec thing with 'switch.exe'?

Not until I find a copy of the Sony DV codec I can install for testing. I haven't had time to do any digging as yet. If/when I get it I'll post the results.

Any info regarding Ulead 6.0 and the RT2000 yet?

          Thanks

Not yet. If/when it comes I'll be one happy camper, that's for sure. Then I can (hopefully) dump Premiere for most of my RT2K projects.

Of course I'll likely still use it for Insciber Title Express, when needed

              Hi

The DV SmartPlay patch II is officially released

I have cobbled together a few instructions until Ulead have a chance to catch up http://216.246.51.202/forums/ads-tech/000703163613.htm

It works briliantly for Firewire 1394

A week from today, when August 11th rolls around, it will be exactly a year since Matrox first announced the advent of the RT2000. I was using the Mystique220/Rainbow Runner Studio back then.

It doesn't feel like a year...

It sure does. Works nicely with the RT-2000's IEEE-1394 hardware too, which is a TI OHCI rig.
