softdvd2 oh god..

I've reinstalled win98 -formated-
then I installed the last matrox g200 marvel tv Drivers and sudenlly the Softdvd2 crashed.
I can install WinDVD4
the big question is: will softdvd2 work better than Windvd4 cause it was created for zoran chip?
Is there anyway to make Softdvd2 work or you think Windvd4 (it's cute) will work same as softdvd or better than it?

please need help.

Hi Mary

If you mean by "softDVD2" the Matrox Cineplayer by Ravisent that came bundled with your Marvel card, then yes: this software is optimized for use with your card. Not because of the Zoran chip (that´s the chip that provides the MJPEG encoding, as stated in your other thread), but because it´s optimized for the G200 and G400 GPU. If it crashes, try installing it again.
If softdvd2 is another application, then uninstall it and install the Matrox DVD player. Don´t use WinDVD if you have a TV hooked up to you PC. It has an incompatibility with DVDMax when playing VCD.

dvdsoft ???

Well, i got confused...
The soft that come with my matrox marvel tv g200 card is DVDSoft2 Direct Show, when it start say the first screen say: MATROX DVD - Zoran
Its control panel say: Zoran again, it doesnt seems to be modern and has not help-About, so I dont know any more info about this soft. Anyway it is working
now, Could I get and install the soft you mentionated?

If it works OK, have fun. I guess the G200 Marvel came with other DVD software than the G400 Marvel. I have a G400 and it came with the Ravisent software I mentioned. Later I got an updated version from Matrox, which gave visual quality using DVD-Max as good as a standalone DVD-player. You could post a thread on the Matrox support forum, asking if they recommend the Matrox DVD player by Ravisent for the Marvel G200TV. Hope this helps...

Back prior to the Parhelia launch us BBz were asked which DVD software we liked best and why. To cut this post short WinDVD won with Power DVD 4 XP coming in a close second.

Yes, I read the review but found it a bit incomplete, most important being the fact that the VCD and DVDMax flaw with WinDVD wasn´t mentioned. VCD was regarded somewhat of a passed station, and I disagree in this manner.
