  • RR-G, MJPEG and VirtualDub

    Hi,

I wonder, is it possible to make VD use the Zoran chip while decoding MJPEG clip, i.e. when I encode it to DivX for instance?

    Thanx

Yes i t is. At least for me with G200+RR-G works pretty fine. I captured about 44 mins of MJPEG AVI with VD and transcoded it to DIVX without any problems. I used PD5.72a and vt2.02. Hope this helps.
PS: Is there a way to tell VD to do "fragment capturing"? I mean to start a new file automatically when the filesize exceeds 2GB for e.g.?

The problem is not the capture, it's decoding. I guess VD uses its own MJPEG routines when I load the "dmb1" file even if I check "popup extended options dialog" and leave "use VirtualDub internal MJPEG routines" UNChecked. In short, video that was captured by the RR_G in MJPEG when decoded by the VD, Morgan or one other codec (forgot its name, start with a "P") looks like crap - hash pattern all over ...

          Ideas please?

          Thanx,
