Problems with best display settings on matrox marvel g400, help me

In programs like virtualdub or avi_io there is a option called display, and this is where you can change stuff like saturation,brightness,contrast,hue etc)
what do you guys have this set on when capturing ex from tv(digital satalite) or video?

if i use the default it seems pretty dark, but those settings ive tried is also to sharp, to bright, etc, please help me

I believe that the display settings are just for playback or e-e video. I don't think that it adjusts the input video. There is a couple of posts on this site addressing the settings. Do a search for them and it should get you in the ballpark. off the top of my head it is 500 for everything except hue=0 and saturation is 549. This is just from my memory, so I would check.
