have you used the Matrox uninstaller utility, if not, windows does not unistall Matrxo drivers properly and some old files are left to muck things up, you also should reinstall VIA drivers prior to reinstalling any Matrox drivers as well.

I think it should go like so:
unistall Matrox drivers with Matrox unistall ulitlity
    Reboot
    Install VIA dtrivers
    Reboot
    Install G200 drivers
    Reboot
    Install Vid tools
    Reboot
then HuffYUV patch, macrovision patch etc
    (I then install Win ME)
    Use AVI_IO to capture

Personally I had a problem win WIn98se that no one else seems to have experienced, after installing WinMe my system works perfectly!

Not likely, AFAIK they're all manufactured in Canada and Ireland.

I have a G 200 Marvel that I bought in Germany a few years ago. It didn't have a tuner either, which I regretted later.

One of the readers of this forum had a spare Marvel G400 tuner that he was so friendly to give to me for free (Thank you Nick Piercey! I owe you for this one!).

      It works wonderfully, proving:

      a) That a G400 tuner works on a G200
      b) that the British tuners are compatible with continental European PAL signals, even though the sound carrier frequency is different in GB.

I have a feeling that your motherboard (or rather, VIA) is incompatible with the Marvel's capturing module. I have similar poor experiences with VIA boards. But never a single problem with Intel BX and 815 boards!

Wish it was the via, then I could use the card in the sis based board but it dosen't work in that one either! Ah well.

It doesn't work with SIS either? That's puzzling.

Are you sure there isn't any other hardware involved (network cards, sound cards, USB stuff) that might interfere? Does the Marvel have a non-shared IRQ and/or DMA?

does it with only the marvel in! I have com ports disabled and nothing is shared with the card. Gonna put this down to bad luck I think.

Is it an AGP Marvel? (if it is PCI, you need to insert it in a busmaster-enabled slot).

Another question: is it only YUY2 that doesn't work, or doesn't MJPG work either? Did you try all resolutions?

It's an AGP. Don't get as far as capturing with any codec. As soon as I click on line (on the pc-vcr) or try to access the matrox vidcap with any program the pc locks up. But it works fine with it's original driver disk.

You mean version 4.X , the one for Windows 95, that came with the DVD player and AvidCinema?
