Elie: I wouldn't be too surprised to see the "original" trilogy out on DVD by Christmas of 2001. While I REALLY want the original trilogy (not the Special Editions, or at least in addition to), I somewhat hope they don't get released on DVD so I don't feel like too much of a fool investing so much time and effort into transferring the Laserdiscs over to a DVD-complaint format. (all of my video filters I've developed have come out of this effort)
Also, since we're talking about fav movies (not neccesarily fav DVDs), I'd like to toss out the following in addition to ones already mentioned here:
Dr. Strangelove (Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb) (poor DVD, but funniest film ever made about nuclear war)
The Shawshank Redemption (actually decent DVD)
    Bulworth (FEARLESS political satire)
    Rushmore
Monty Python and the Life Of Brian (INCREDIBLE Criterion Edition DVD)
    Airplane!
    Blazing Saddles & Young Frankenstien

The amazing thing is MOST of these are out on DVD (though I would not rank any of them as good as Yellow Submarine's DVD)

      pour moi,
Play it again, it's Casablanca all the way for me.
      Baraka, an amazing DVD catch
      Seventh Seal (Criterion edition)
      Rushmore (Criterion edition)
      Bringing Out The Dead
and Wizard of Oz is just done so well that I had to include it.
      my 6 1/2 cents.

        Hmmm....

Speaking of 6 1/2 cents, how about 9 1/2 Weeks?

Matrix and Twister (awesome sound and special effects) does seem to top most things, however I have watched the Star Wars Trilogy the most times.

But where have old movies gone to in this thread. One of my favorites is Arsenic & Old Lace from 1944 starring Cary Grant.

Especially the Mortimer Brewster, "Doctor" Einstein & Teddy Roosewelt characters are really something else.

Oh yeah. I remember the first time I saw that movie on TV as a kid. I was rolling on the floor in stitches with my mother wondering what in hell was wrong
