RT2500 compatibility problem

The Asus M/Board I am using at present is not compatible with the RT2500. Premiere just keeps on freezing whenever a Matrox FX is requested. Experts that I have consulted suspect the VIA KT400 Chipset. This Asus board is the A7V8X. I have tried swopping graphics cards (Millenium 550), updating the 4 in 1 drivers, but to no avail.

I am using an Athlon XP 2200+ CPU. Nvidia G-force 4 MX 460 64Mb DDR-RAM Ti 4200. 512 DDR-RAM. Windows XP.

Can anyone suggest a compatible M/Board for the RT2500?

Anything not made by VIA...they have horrible PCI bandwidth problems and far as I know the KT400 hasn't fixed anything. The RT series puts any VIA board on its knees

Absolutely 100% correct. VIA chipped systems have no business in a realtime editing system; software or harware.

The problem is both restrictgions in PCI bandwidth and in memory bandwidth. VIA has had these problems for years with no fix in sight.

I've run an RT-2000 and an RT.X100 on the MSI 745 Ultra (SiS 745), ECS K7S6A (SiS 745) and the ECS K7S5A (SiS 735) with no problems whatsoever.

I'd highly recommend the MSI 745 Ultra.

Many thanks for the replies. I had already looked at the compatibilty of system motherboards on the Matrox website but it is hardly up-to-date! I have now settled for the Asus A7V333 board (not listed) which will possibly fit the bill according to this link:
