  • g400 marvel + avi_io + win2k = bsod

Strage issue with avi_io and my g400 marvel on win2k. I have tried vt2.02 2.04 and 2.10, and the problem is resilient:
on a random pattern, when i try to capture with avi_io (after i press the record button), avi_io crashes with a standard "close application" message, followed in a few seconds by a BSOD, which says that "the process has loked pages!". Damn! I triied every codec/format version and i still get this.
Also, if i try to capture with virtualdub, no problem, but i get sometimes big frame loss. Very strange! Any ideas?

Yeah! Dual boot with W98SE, capture using that and then pass onto editing in W2k. Marvel G200/400/RRS/RRG were not designed for W2k and, although there are those who have managed to get them to work, under duress, there is no ready-made formula that can be guaranteed to allow the in-built hardware codec to work. As you have a system approaching the minimum, I suggest that using other software codecs may very well cause drops. There are other possibilities, retaining the Marvel for display only, but pushing in the video by other means.

Damn! I know this solution, but it is so annoying, because i like to watch tv and capture live, without any preparations, whatever i like and it's on (music videos, documentaries, whatever) and i also work on my computer. And win98 it is not the solution for web development, which is the thing that i do. Whatever ... looks like i have no other solutions.
