  • Scanning an .avi quickly with "Fast Forward"?

    Hi there,

does anyone know of any utility/player that enables you to scan an .avi quickly?

I need this for scanning up to 7hours of surveillance video.

    Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of anything other than the standard "FF" controls available in most packages (PC-VCR, AV_IO, take your pick).

If you are looking for frame comparison or motion indicators, you probably need some fairly specialised software

VirtualDub has a "speed through the video until you find a change" function that is fairly configurable.

It's also easy to jump from keyframe to keyframe or to arbitrary spots in the entire AVI (Shift+right arrow will speed very quickly through a file with a keyframe every couple of seconds).

Sorry if I sound ignorant... But I dont have any FF on my PC-VCR, only a "Skip to next in playlist"....

...And on my avi_io I don't se any FF.
Mr. Zingg - is it me or....??

The closest thing I get is on my Windows mediaplayer, where they are grayed out (I think thats for .wav's?)

        Aaaarrrgghhhh.....( <- BIG sigh )
