  • Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro 2.0

I've been resisting the urge to buy a fully-functional audio editing suite.

I already have Cakewalk Professional 8.0, but that program focuses on MIDI.

Cakewalk Professional 8.0 also offers fair audio editing capability, but the program is limited to 8 audio tracks.

I've decided to get Cool Edit Pro 2.0 for $250.

    (Unless somebody persuades me otherwise.)

Cool Edit Pro 2.0 is from Syntrillium (of Scottsdale, Arizona).

Has anybody used Cool Edit Pro 2.0?

    Hi Jerry,

I use Cool Edit Pro 2 all the time.

Primarily for radio work, but occasionally for video soundtracks and cleaning up old vinyl.

Does what it says on the tin!

One month free trial is downloadable ( fully functioning - apart from mp3's of > 1 minute can't be saved).

    Regards,

    Nick.

I've been using CoolEdit for some 5 years now and Sound Forge for about 2... Both work a peach, both are very feature rich

Why would you need to use both CoolEdit and Sound Forge if both "work a peach"?

I use MSP, Premiere and Vegas simply because none are really up to snuff and it generally takes a combination of at least two of these to do what I want :-(

I use both Soundforge and Cooledit to work with my digital live audio transfers. I find that Cooledits EQ/filters/multitrack, etc are nicer to work with when cleaning up bad recordings. But, I use Soundforge to initially transfer the recordings digitally to my computer. For some reason, when I try to transfer using Cooledit (older versions and 2.0), audible pops and clicks get introduced into the audio stream. I haven't been able to remedy the issue, but I never had any probs doing the raw transfer in soundforge.

Sounds like the same unhappy state of affairs I have with video where no app really works right :-(
