  • G200 and Epson printer problems !!!

    Any advice please?

I have an Epson stylus color 600. Was fantastic. But since including a G200 with an Hot Shuttle MB and AMD333. When printing at Maximum quality I get either color streaks or banding problems.

I have downloaded the latest EPson Drivers and no change. Epson say it could be the video card/driver but without another card around, how do i check it?

Has anyone had a similar problem please?

    Thanks - Biker

I've never had a problem with the Marvel G200, Marvel G400 or RT-2000 printing on the Epsons.

Every time I've had banding with my Epsons it's been a bad cable, printhead or a cartridge low on ink.

      Biker,
I have a Mill G200 and an Epson Photo 1200 printer and have had no problems. You probably just need to adjust the printer heads with the Epson utilities under properties in the print dialog box (nozzle check, head cleaning or print head alignment).

Also, are you using Epson paper? If you're printing anything at high resolution(eg. photo at 1440 dpi) you should use Epson or Avery paper-anything else will probably look bad.

Last but not least, don't try to refill your Epson cartidges with after market ink. You may save a few bucks now, but chances are it will ruin your print heads and void your warranty.

Anyway, that's my 2.5 cents worth.

        Thanks Doc and Riddek

All your comments are noted. Especially the printer cable comment. What sort of probs could this cause? I have 2 parallel cables in series linked through a manual switchbox.

I repeat the main fault is extraneous blue lines printing the whole width of the page, approx every 5mm apart down the page - EVEN with black and white only printing???

        ANy further comments much apreciated.

          Well....

A poorly connected pin or bad wire in the cable could cause a white line across the page by blanking a set of jets. So could a poor or missing connection in the switchbox (been there, done that). Not the case here....

A solid colored line would indicate to me the possibility of an open jet (or jets) OR the overlapping of two adjacent printed rows.

I believe the Epson Answers troubleshooter has a module for repairing such artifacts. Usually these show as white lines where printed rows have a gap between them, but if they overlapped instead it could show this effect, particularly if green and yellow overlapped.

I can't check this myself as I'm no longer using the Epsons, having recently switched to the Canon tabloid size printers.

If using Epson Answers to play with the row gap didn't work I'd start thinking hard about a defective jet. This would require replacing the printhead.
