Will I lose quality if I resave in Premiere?

I have sampled some MTV videos using AVI_IO - i now want to encode each video to mpg. If I open the video in Premiere, choose the Matrox MJPG template, edit the part I want and resave as an avi, will I lose quality? I just wondered whether it woul be compressed again. I can just encode the frames I want with my encoder but I've always found it easier to just save the song as an avi on it's own.

IF you set up the project settings to match those of the source files cuts only edits will be lossless. Add transitions or other effects and that portion will be recompressed, but most times the quality loss from just one level of recompression isn't enough to notice.
