I got a call from Panasonic and they explained why their Web site is so odd...
...it has to do with how the company is organized.
On the Panasonic Web site at http://www.panasonic.com the so-called INDUSTRIAL SOLUTIONS link leads to the ***OEM*** versions of their computer drives:
My Panasonic LF-D311, for example, is the OEM version of this drive.
Meanwhile, Panasonic's BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL link leads to the ***RETAIL*** versions of their computer drives.
My Panasonic LF-D321 is the RETAIL version of the drive.
The Panasonic guy who called me today explained the two drives are 'physically identical.'
As for newer DVD MULTI drives:
There are no plans for SCSI versions.
USB 2.0 and Firewire now dominate the optical drive market to the point where native SCSI is no longer viable.
However, SCSI diehards might consider IDE-to-SCSI conversion bridges offered by the following companies:
