After Effects Layers Question

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to do some 2D animation pencil tests. I know that after effects can allow me to use layers. My question is can after effects make the layers containing character animation transparent so that the background layer can be seen also. I'm currently using linker systems animation stand but it's having problems with my scanner.

Please, if anyone can answer my question regarding the layer transparency, I would really appreciate it.

hey..... welcome to the AfterFX club !

It surely can do it. It actually has very advanced colour keying + chrom/luma keying capabilities [depending if u go for the standard or the production bundle. But Standard will be sufficient for you, i would imagine. you'd just choose a backround colour that your sketch ,does not have in it and u key it out !
