Welcome to the wonderful world of Frys. A lot of people purchase computer hardware to simply try it out - if they like it, they keep it. If not, it gets returned. That's one of the reasons Best Buy and CompUSA have a 15% restocking fee.

But with Frys, even defective hardware makes its way back to the shelf. The upside is that Frys has a wide selection of products. But their prices aren't that competative - usually matching CompUSA and Best Buy. The downside is that the shelves are full of returns, and its difficult to find intellegent life there to ask a question.

My experience, Big Dog, is that IQ and IT in shops are generally contradictory terms. Most questions that I ask are met with "duh?" (including "how much is this, the price isn't shown?").

Generally, opened goods are returned by the retail store to the manufacturer...

Well I can't wait to have a look in Fry's now, so many ups and downs, it should interesting. The main product I'm after, the Sony DRU-500 has been out of stock globally and should have just come back into stock in Feb, so there shouldn't be to many returns sitting around.

I find it amazing you can return goods so easily, especially computer products, we have strong consumer laws here protecting buyers, but you cannot return goods because "the dog didn't like the colour", a valid reason is required.

Paul, I already have some bag carriers I'm afraid, but the cinema looks interesting, and I was not aware of it before.
