Kind of goofy that they have the little battery indicator next to the time available while you're charging, as the battery indicator shows to be full before all the available charge has been indicated by the timer...

I think they should have kept the battery charge lines in synch with the time added.

This is because the charge rate decreases the closer to a full charge you are. The full battery picture is the fullest it'll reach at the high charge rate. This is incase you were in a hurry to tape some more, you don't have to wait for a full charge.
