DV SmartCapture? (rough cut at low-res - recapture at high-res?)

Pinnacle Studio DV has a feature to capture one hour of DV tape in 150MB. Then you do a rough cut and recapture only the needed clips at full-res before final editing.
They call this "SmartCapture".
How well does this feature work?
Is it as useful and practical as it seems?

Can this feature be replicated with a Pyro card and Ulead MSP?
Some other cheap firewire card?

(I like Pyro's software bundle better).


PS. I have a Canon Optura Pi if device control compatibility is an issue.

Hi

Pinnacle Studio DV may be useful if you have a huge libary of tapes that you want to edit (all at the same time)?

The ADS Pyro with MS Pro 6 does all I want.
