  • Dual Rate DDR P4 vs RDRAM1066 vs Nforce2 Dual DDR test results

Athelon with ASUS Dual DDR holds its own against 3GHz hyperthreaded P4 for non-P4 specific code.

OTOH Granite Bay dual DDR P4 chipset supports four modules and uses cheaper CAS2 DDR266 instead of the more expensive DDR333 or DDR400.

I'll be waiting to see how much P4 specific code in in MSP7 before updating.

On the Doc created MS Pro test, RDRAM has about 10% speed advantage over DDR at 333MHz. So, we are looking at a nice bump here for editing. These dual DDR solutions will be necessary as speeds creep beyond 3000MHz and cpus become bandwidth limited.

Right now, theoretically, the P4 needs 4.2GB/sec, exactly what dual PC2100 should deliver. When the fsb move to 800MHz we'll need dual DDR at 400MHz.
