    hi,

i was hoping to get guidance on using a standard FIREWIRE card that comes with no video capture tools to capture video. I have the DV500 & i know it's quite easy to preview the DV cams tape content and capture segments of what u want thru the Pinnicle software [+ DV device control].
Now for another machine i found a good deal[$80] for a three port firewire card but i comes with no tools just thr drivers, how would i be able to capture and scan he tape + control the device ?
Guidance will be appreciated... DOC i know u have an answer

the machine this card will go in has tjhe G2000 marvel on it... if that adds value !

Try the video capture tool from Sonic Foundry's Vegas Video. Its a free download and if you have Windows 2000 or Windows 98SE the OHCI firewire drivers for your generic card should be built in.

Unfortunately, at $80 you didn't get a very good deal, for $50 at Best Buy I picked up a generic (D-Link branded) OHCI firewire card that had Ulead VS4 on CD and a firewire cable for $50.
