  • ULEAD MediaStudio Pro & FILM

I noticed a little while ago, while editing, that ULEAD has included a 'FILM' 24 FRAMES PER SECOND preset editing template in MEDIASTUDIO PRO version 7.0.

I had not noticed this before.

    Doc, did you notice this?

Would this mean there's built-in support for - say - the Panasonic AG-DVX100?

    The manual for that cam says this;
    24P mode:

Images are shot in the progressive mode at 24 frames per second. The 24 frames per second images are converted into 60-field interlace signals using the regular [2:3] conversion system, and the resulting video signals are output or recorded. Cinema-like images can be obtained in this mode.

    24P advance mode:

Images are shot in the progressive mode at 24 frames per second. The 24 frames per second images are converted into 60-field interlace signals by the advanced conversion system, and the resulting video signals are output or recorded.
Which indicates to me that the 24P mode is internal with the DV footage being exported after a 2:3 conversion is done back to the normal frame rate for DV editing, but with a film "look".

OTOH; did you also notice that in MPEG MSPro7 supports High, Main and Simple profiles plus the High, High 1440, Main and Low levels?

      You're right.

I'm just now observing the new high, main, and simple profiles for the first time.

      Very cool!

I was thinking about buying a second NLE for fun.

I was thinking about insync's program.

      But no longer.

I'm discovering so many new things under the hood of MediaStudio Pro 7.0 that will keep me humming a long nicely until 64-Bit processing is finally available.

      :-)

This may be useful for importing high def scanned cine film. There is nothing I could find in the User's Guide about this.

Even I didn't know this support.

I'll need to check this with our RD.

There's so many new things in MSPro7 that even after the beta and hundreds of hours of use new toys keep cropping up all over the place
