I agree that the battery should be removed when not in use but, in the context of my earlier post, it is difficult to see the 'humidity warning' if there is no power to the camera. What I was saying was that you should remove the battery while conditioning the camera to a condensing environment, something that may be less obvious when surrounded by lush vegetation hiding all sorts of dangerous beasties. I think that very few of us remove the battery between shots.

Patrick, yes but you haven't any influence how it do it. It takes some time while AWB adjusts the cam's WB settings. If you then choose Hold WB remains the same without regard to ligt/color temperature changes.

For example choose AWB indoor for a short time, choose Hold to remember it and go to sunlight. You'll see the difference. Then choose AWB again and WB will be set for new conditions.

But you cannot say "This is a white, remember it.". You can "hold" only what AWB things is good.

Benefit for me is mainly noise reduction using indoor presets now. I haven't tested outdoor presets nor indoor presets with white-light lamp yet.
I'll try more experiments this weekend.

Brian: I was just trying to clarify your statement. No, don't remove the battery between shots. Almost 50% of the camcorders I see, the customer stores the unit with the battery attached. Also the only way remove a dew condition from most camcorders is to remove the battery, if you leave it on it won't reset the dew condition.
        Thanks Patrick
