  • Are the Panasonic LF-D310 and LF-311 the same thing?

Awhile back, Jerry Jones posted a link to the reduced price Panasonic LF-D311 and I picked one of them up. My main box was down and I have just recently gotten to install it. Under Win98 it shows as an LF-D310. So, are the LF-D311 drivers going to work with this? I did not want to update anything for fear of screwing the drive up. I had a look at the Panasonic site and I can find nothing on the 310. What gives? Jerry...you out there?

    Thanks!

The answer is YES... they're the same.

    Don't worry about it.

        P.S.

The Panasonic drives LOVE Sony-brand DVD-R discs... and ONLY Sony-brand DVD-R discs.

        Don't ask me why.

(As for DVD-RAM, any brand except Memorex has worked great for me.)

But in my rather extensive personal testing, I have found that the Sony discs play back glitch-free 100% of the time.

Other brands of discs, including the Maxell branded discs that were so highly touted by DV MAGAZINE, often yield discs that glitch in my GE DVD player.

        The Sony-brand discs are perfect.

Amazing, but true... in my tests.

Any good sources for the Sony disks?

          Thanks!

I have found the Sony-brand DVD-R discs at local CompUSA and Ultimate Electronics stores.

They may also be available at Circuit City.

In any event, their price is usually pretty good.

You can buy 10 packs at a pretty good price per disc here in Boise, Idaho.
