  • audio card question for rt.x100

    Hi all,

I have been having problems. I had a creativelab soundblaster audigy 2 with breakout box. I had a a hardtime getting the inputs to be recognized by the rt.x100 and sound was scratchy. We changed irq's, operating system ( w2k to xp ), and changed levels/sources to no avail. The onboard sound is not scratchy, but it is only recording the left channel. I've changed the settings in the record and soundcard setups to no avail. I haven't double checked to see if it is properly hooked up, I would like a soundcard that works, but I would really like a 8 in card. I have a bunch of 1/2" 8 track reel to reels that I would like to mix in cubase, logic, or protools. Is there a card that will work? Or should I just get a turtle beach santa cruz?
I was looking at the M-Audio Delta 1010-LT.

Acclaimed audio interfaces, studio monitors, and keyboard controllers

or possibly an aardvark or steinberg card. Does any know of a 8 input card that works with the rt.x100? Any advice would be helpful.

Is that an onboard raid? I have heard some grumblings about onboard raids causing problems.

I would recommend a Santa Cruz sound card. Run a search in the forum and you should see some favorable comments.

        Hi,
the only onboard raid I know of is the asus p4533r. But it takes over 2 ram slots , so I have a pci raid controller. I think it is a promise. Thanks for the recomendation about the turtle beach. I'm still considering the m audio, because they have what I need. ( 8 inputs) But I've seen turtle beach listed in a lot of murc users specs. I'm still undecided. thx again

I'm using a Santa Cruz with my RT.X100 and they work great together.

You don't need a RAID for use with the RT.X100, and in fact it may be detrimental on some systems. Single drives are more than enough the vast majority of times.

            Hi Dr Mordrid,
Thanks for the advice. I will probably choose the santa cruz now. You have a nice system and I want to be sure the soundcard works with the rt. How would you get 8 inputs in or could I have 2 soundcards without messing up the system?

              Hi,

I went and bought a regular m audio soundcard, because it had digital out so I can hook it up to my sterio easier. When I choose svhs there is no audio choice. I can't hear the vhs sound, but it does record. It sounds great. So the only problems I can think of would be lack of monitering and possible sych problems. Is there anything I can do or any suggestions? I can trade it in for a turtle beach if that will work better, but I like this card. It allows me to trim the input levels easily. I also plan on getting its bigger brother a 10 input card eventually. any input would be welcome.
