  • Does MS Pro 7's high quality rendering take advantage of dual cpus and HT?

It is obvious after using MS Pro 7 for a while that the RT or instant playback engine has been significantly upgraded.

Ulead also reports that it is now capable of taking advantage of dual processors and HT technology.

Does anyone know if the "normal" high quality rendering also take advantage of dual processors and HT?

I'm led to believe so, Mark. Even with my 1.6 GHz P4, it's faster, so with a dualie I have no reason to think the contrary

From the reports I seen and informally done myself, I don't think there is any speed advantage in final rendering over v6.52. In fact, the text handling is a bit slower with v7. To be expected with the more advanced titler, of course.

I'm wondering if final rendering (high quality) takes advantage of dual cpu's or HT. So far, as I said above, no evidence that there are other improvements to HQ rendering.

I am thinking that most of the development work went into RT preview speed enhancements.

      Only testing will tell us.

The internal titler is slower for now, but thats because it was a late addition and didn't get fully optimized before the deadline. The upcoming patch is supposed to address it. Otherwise rendering does take advantage of HT and dualies.

I had been kind of "on the fence" regarding upgrading. But after really exploring the titler last night I decided to make the move and bought the upgrade. My titling needs are pretty limited, I don't think I'll be using CG Infinity much anymore.
