  • Serious audio problem in MSP7.0

Has anybody experienced this audio issue in MSP 7.0,
When you have an audio track in Aa + A1 and at the end of the Aa the A1 continues but the amplitude jumps higher.
    Look at these pictures:

Making the same combination in MSP 6.52 works fine, but inserting this MSP6.52 project to a MSP7.0 timeline, the issue appears again.
    My (poor) solution:
I found that inserting an audio file at the end of the Aa or into gaps on the Aa, Ab tracks, but reducing the audio level of this “dummy” file to the lowest, eliminates the volume jump.
Another solution: I make a .wav file of the whole Aa + Ab tracks, mute the Aa and Ab tracks and insert the new .wav file to one of a free track A2, A3 etc.
This .wav file must cover the whole project area of the timeline.
Hallo beta testers. Did you experience this problem?

      Fred,

Thanks for taking the time to illustrate this problem so clearly. I just plunked down the $229 for the MS Pro 7 upgrade yesterday. This is a really serious issue and in my opinion it should be attended to immediately. Ulead should not wait for a comprehensive patch, they should create a patch right now to fix this.

      Good work Fred.

One more (poor) solution for the audio issue is to fiddle with the Audio Mixing Panel.
It took me about a ½ hour to smooth the amplitude difference and even so there is a short, but perceptible unwanted noise peek.

        Anybody else experienced this issue?

          Confirmed, Fred.

A couple of observations, taking your example as guide.

          1) it is not visable on the MSP7.0 timeline itself
          2) it does not occur if I'd check the mute box of the Aa track
          3) it does not _seem_ to occur if the Aa track continues onto the A1 (IE, if there's no overlap at all).
          4) the problem is not influenced by playback options (I can hear it both during Instant Play and ordinary rendered footage).

Feels like an internal math problem, an audio offset issue or something like that. Ulead, time for 7.01 wouldn't you say ?

            1, 2, 4 right.
3- is right, but if you insert a “dummy” audio file in any gap on Aa or Ab it doesn’t accour.

            New observations:
            5. - It appears if Aa and Ab are muted and two files overlap in A1 and A2.
Note the amplitude goes down when A1 switches over to A1+A2 and the amplitude rises when A1+A2 goes to A2.
            6. - It appears if 5. - and Aa or/and Ab is activated.

The normal should be higher amplitude in the overlap zone, but it is the opposite here. See the picture below.
            It is completely unusable.

It's really strange that if you create a .wav audio file of the audio in the project, the rendered audio only file does not exhibit this problem.

You'd think that the logic that creates the audio for a audio/video file would be the same as that for creating a audio only file.

              Strange.

                Hulk,
                Nice work.
Your idea is a rescue for my latest project (the first with MSP7.0)
I made a new .wav audio file of each of the full audio tracks.
E.g. my edited audio tracks are: Aa, Ab, A1 and A2 then I create a new A3=full Aa only, a new A4= full Ab only, etc. IT works.
But, Ulead must come with a patch. SOON! VideoEditor 7.0 is completely useless today.

Any new surprises are to be expected in the VideoCapture, Paint or CG ?

                  Fred,

Please contact me for the solution.

We have worked a solution here and I have passed the solution to Mark just now.

Please contact me and verify the solution with me.

We have fixed two main problems concerning audio in MSP7:

                  1) audio drop in VE
                  2) error message and conflict between InterVideo and MSP7

                  Thank you

I have noticed the same problem. I hope a programatic fix is available soon - "work arounds" are a very short term solution.

The dll's Jack sent me cleared up both problems. If you want them e-mail me and I'll send them to you.

I am quite happy that Ulead attended to these problems so quickly.

                      Thanks Jack.

                        Yes, the DLL's work fine.

They solved one of my problems, the audio drops.

I haven't time to test the InterVideo issue, yet, but I will.
The reason is that when I went from W2K to WinXP did not reinstalled WinDVD.
I am happy now with the MSP 7.0.

Thanks Jack, and thanks ULEAD for the quick response.

                        Nice work.

                        Regards

                          No problem, people.

Ulead couldn't of do it without you guys.

                          I still need your support.

                            So others with this problem can get the fix I'm going to put it on my webspace for download;

and put up a separate post for it.

                              Thanks, Jack!

I have confirmed the bug on my two systems, but the DLLs solve the problem.

The quick fix is most appreciated.

(And I might add that I'm not completely surprised this was missed by the beta team because there were so many other issues we were trying to test and get working properly.)
