G400-TV brightness adjust, Win2k?

I'm using the G400-TV for video capture of a surveillance camera. The setup uses Gotcha!, which only saves changes in frame.

I had moved away from the G400-TV due to the brightness problem, but the Bt878-based capture card doesn't capture fast moving objects well. The scan lines are delayed from one frame to the next, leaving the fast moving object with unmatched, alternating scan lines.

My setup is Win2k SP3, Athlon XP 1800+, MS-6330 v3 (Via), Matrox G400-TV, Matrox PD 5.39.019, Matrox VT 02.04.15.

Is there a way to change the brightness or contrast of the RCA/NTSC video?

If not, is there another, similar or better capture card?

I'm using a similar config but using standard capture software like virtualdub, avi-io, etc.. In all the capture software I've seen, there are display controls where you can adjust brightness, contrast, etc.. Take a look....not entirely certain...but Gotcha should have them somewhere.

No such luck on this program. I've spent alot of time searching the options on this program and have come up empty. May be time for a change in programs. There are probably some good ones by now anyway.

Hi Joe If you loaded pc vcr when you installed the g400 , go to the remote ,select "file" (as source) , click the icon for settings , go to "video" tab & make adjustments and apply.(this resets the registry) All should be good.

I must have some mental block, but I cannot find a selection of "file" anywhere within the PC-VCR controls. Is this a function available if the VCR function is active? Which version has this active in Win2K?

Joe I'm using 98se I would think that 2k would be the same as far as the remote goes. On the remote itself the input select shows file, tv or line .Man I'm the guy with a mental block.
In the pevious post I said file it should be set to line. sorry about that. if you right click on the remote and select properties you can access the video tab and set brightness,contrast,hue,saturation and sharpness.
I'm using Version 2.10.017. If you have a different version you may have access the input differently. Where do you set the input ?

Smitty, I can set the brightness and other video settings just fine. The settings do not affect external applications. Wish they did. PC-VCR doesn't conserve HD space like a security application can, as well as use non-proprietary MJPEG compression.

Joe I thought that if you applied an adjustment in pc vcr then exited it wrote that to the registry so it would stick. I maybe wrong. I have edited the registry(win98se)and it does stick there I used a RR. In registry hklm\software\matrox\rainbowRunner\0\Vin\defaultVa lues.
I don't know if you would have the same however there must be a default setting in your registry. hope you find it.
