I have considered converting the clips to MPEG II via TMPEnc but that's a little time consuming and limiting. I'd like to assemble the final product and then compress to a variety of formats.

What do you mean by "edit"? If you are just looking to trim a clip, you could use VirtualDub. Use the direct Stream copy and mark your in and out points. If you want to recompress it to another format, VDub is also the way to go. Select Full processing and select your compression format, audio and video. It will also allow you to frameserver the clip to TMPGEnc (very nicely). I personally prefer MPEG4 with Mp3 audio for archiving. It is small, compresses fast and if your MPEG4 codec is "hacked" properly (mine is: 6000 bitrate, 1 sec KF, 75 cripness) it is high quality and it will play from a CD with no problem. If you want to perform dissolves and such, MSP 6 will edit with Huff. I believe a lot of edit SW will allow you to use Huff if it is installed on your system.WinXP Pro SP2 ABIT IC7 Intel P4 3.0E 1024M Corsair PC3200 DCDDR ATI AIW x800XT 2 Samsung SV1204H 120G HDs AudioTrak Prodigy 7.1 3Com NIC Cendyne DVR-105 DVD burner LG DVD/CD-RW burner Fortron FSP-300-60ATV PSU Cooled by Zalman Altec Lansing MX-5021

MSPro6 will actually play the huffyuv clips? VideoStudio 4 will not play the clips properly. They stutter very badly.- Mark
