  • G400 Flex and RT2000 best run under W98 or Millenium?

    Hiya.. My Rt2000 is winging its way to me now
    <glee>
    and im reformating.. but have the option of sticking with W98 or putting on Millenium. What are the pros of shifting to Millenium. Is it more stable? and Will the drivers still work for Millenium?
    <are there drivers for it>

    Also am i right in thinking that millenium is the consumer windows and W2000 being the Nt version.. or is that totally wrong...

    Hope you guys can help.
    Thanks... Colin

    AFAIK, the RT2000 works under WinMe, but is only certified/supported under Win98.

    I would have a perusal of the offical RT2000 forums at http://forum.matrox.com/cgi-bin/rt2000/Ultimate.cgi

          Thanks Ellie.. you can see the last online thingy i did at http://members.xoom.com/cmb6183/dloads.htm

          Ive had my eye on an rt2000 for aagggeeesss
          Having a marvel G200, then G400 max and RRG
          Ive been using that for part time celebration videos, weddings, partys and the like. Pro stuff. for my boss and the council
          and ive just started a HND in tv film and video. So it should get plenty of use!

          At college they have rows and rows of Macs and booking edit time on them is horrendous, an hour here or an hour there.

          I fully intend to shoot with my D8 cam.. or the Sony DSR300's at college ....
          (nice, but no digital output from what i can see, there again the panasonic dvd pro cams i use at work dont have one either, i guess they asssume you have a seperate playback machine)

          ....then bring it back home and edit to my hearts content..
          this weekends gonna be fun :OP

            Let's be a bit more specific: the *best* OS version available now for the RT-2000 is Win98SE because of the IEEE-1394 improvements.

            WinME support should be coming sooon with Win2K some time after that.

                Hello again CMB,

                If you don't mind me asking, how much did/have you paid for the RT2000?

                I've had my eye on it since it came out, but even at the new lower price (£800-ish inc VAT) it's still a bit too expensive for me

                My Marvel G200 is still working well though

                Chris.
