  • Time Base Correctors?

Since there is no more videotracker available for the g400tv...I was wondering if a Time Base Corrector would do the trick for this old 8mm tape that wont track right to my computer. The tape looks fine when copied to vhs or played over a televison...but just jumps all over when previewed through the pcvcr. I don't want to spend a ton of money as the only problem is with one tape. Any suggestions about the Time Base Corrector?

    Flaco,

You can also use a video mixer. It will restore the sync. I use a video mixer on all old material and get very good results. Perhaps you can borrow one.

      video mixer

call me silly but I don't know what a video mixer is. Can you tell me more about video sync using the mixer versus a tbc? And why is it that my tape plays fine in the viewfinder or over a T.V but stinks on the preview screen of the pcvcr?

Do DV camcorders apply "proper" TBC when using passthrough to capture analog video to DV?

I have seen a couple of DV camcorder manuals which mention TBC in passing, but it isn't clear when it is applied or whether it is as good as the TBC used in video mixers or dedicated TBCs.

          any video mixer?

          Debbie,

I've seen some very cheap (and old) mixers on e-bay...I was wondering if all video mixers restore sync. Which one do you use?

          Thank you
