  • Overclocking a via Chipset and digtal editing?

I have a PII 400 that I have been doing my digital editing on.I also Have a PIII 500E
Overclocked to 775 on a Soyo via 133 6-vba motherboard which works great on other basic Applications. Both Have New 7200RPM Hard Drives the PII 192MB Memory the PIII 128MB Memory I was hoping some one could enlighten me if putting the Pyro Fire wire card and moving my Marvel to the latter setup would be advised. I am just getting a little frustrated on my older machine clunking away on title, graphic apps and rendering. Thanks For any Help

I am using the ASUS motherboard with the via 133 Pro chipset. Have a coppermine 550E overclocked to 733. SIIG firewire and Marvel installed, the 5.55 and 1.54 videotool drivers. Using Ulead MSP 6.0 without any problems.

Besure to install the latest via drives from the viatech web site.

In your situation you should be fine as the PCI bus is only overclocked to 38.7 MHz and the AGP is only at 77.5. If you have any problems it might be due to the overclocked bus speeds. Slowing down to 667 (which brings the AGP bus down to 66 Mhz and the PCI bus down to 33Mhz) will eliminate that problem if it does occur.

Jack, I'm considering a setup similar to yours. How do like the SIIG Firewire card along with the Marvel? Does the Ulead MSP 6.0 software run both boards? Thanks, JMAN
