  • Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio - Can You Reproduce This Issue?

    Has anybody else tried to export a :30 second 32-Bit uncompressed .avi file from Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio?

    If so, did the alpha channel remain intact for you?

    I seem to be hitting a limitation of about 20 to 25 seconds.

    I'm using the Ulead StudioQuartet version:

    Turn your life’s best moments into stunning movies with Corel VideoStudio! Get creative with drag-and-drop stylish templates, artistic filters, titles, transitions, and the whole palette of advanced editing tools. Get your FREE trial.

    Please let me know if you can reproduce this:

    1. Open Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio;

    2. Drag the multi-colored ball from the SHAPES in the Easy Pallette to the work area;

    3. Set your number of frames to 900 and your frame rate to 29.97fps;

    4. Choose FILE>EXPORT VIDEO OVERLAY>AVI and choose the 32-Bit Uncompressed option;

    5. Drop the resulting .avi file into the overlay track of MediaStudio Pro and enable the alpha channel.

    I find that the alpha channel remains intact up to about 22 to 25 seconds.

    If the clip goes :30 seconds, however, I seem to lose the alpha channel.

    Can anybody confirm?

    Alpha channel, lumakey, color key....whatever overlay type that would apply plays as an overlay to the end with a DV type 1 background.

      I just tried again.

      No alpha channel if the clip consists of 900 frames.

      Wow.

      I'm going to try this on my other two computers to find out if I can reproduce over there as well.

        My previous sucessful attempt was in Win2K SP-2.

        I just tried it again in WinXP SP1 and it too worked.

          One of the Cool 3D Production Studio engineers has posted to another board that users of ATI video display adapters will get faster performance than users of NVIDIA display adapters.

          1. I used the beach ball - spinning - over a black background in my test number #1 on my system that features Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 and an integrated 32mb GeForce 2 NVIDIA GPU. Alpha channel works up to :20 seconds; doesn't work if the uncompressed 32-Bit .avi is :30 seconds.

          2. I then used the same beach ball - spinning - over a black background in my test number #2. This time my system features Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 and my video display adapter is a 64mb PCI card - an Asus V9180 - NVIDIA GeForce 4. Same results.

          3. My third test will be with a laptop that features an NVIDIA GeForce 4 video display adapter using Windows XP Home and a Pentium 4 processor. This will be interesting.

            For the record, as noted in my tagline, I'm using Matrox's P-750 in this system. All the others have either Parhelia or some kind of Matrox G card.
