Interesting but come to think of it, OS X is not 64 bit, will they be producing a 64 version of the OS?

Actually, the ideal setup would be...

1. 64-Bit processor;

2. 64-Bit operating system;

3. Applications written for 64-Bit OS + 64-Bit processor

It will be several months before the full speed advantages will be reaped.

But - the reports I've read suggest that there are significant speed gains even for 32-Bit applications running on 32-Bit operating systems that run on 64-Bit chips.

this christmas win 64bit will be out, apple has not mentioned any 64bit os, no mention of it in their upcoming os, so u can bet its gonna be a while. might as well get an amd 64bit and windows64bit which will be alot faster than a G5 anyways.

yeah I second that one... seems Apple has gone to the lotto ball machine and just plucking numbers that fit their fancy.

I can hardly wait for Sept. to get here... it should get really interesting by then.

Of course by then Intel will be at 4 ghz + a 1.5GHZ bus and it won't matter anyhow.
