  • How to create a MiniDVD that works

    i tried putting a dvd on cd (minidvid?) w/ moviefactory2. My results are that some dvds won't play it, or that a file browser will pop up and u have to browse the contents of the cd for the video file u want to play. Anyone know how to successsfully make a minidvd that works? thanks

    What DVD player software do you have installed? If none that's your answer.

        Very few home DVD decks will play miniDVD's, so SVCD is a better option. Don't be fooled by its 480x480 frame size; it's the same as used by DirectTV and TiVo.

        You can check this site for a listing of DVD decks and what they will and will not play;

        This website is for sale! dvdrhelp.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, dvdrhelp.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

        Look under the heading "DVD Players".

          yah but i'd like to keep the ac-3 audio, maybe i should just make it a low resolution dvd or something like that, but i doubt that will help.

            You're just banging your head against a wall messing about with miniDVD. I had experimented a lot with them as well. The price of DVD burners (and media) has dropped so much that there's little excuse for not buying one now if you're the least bit serious about putting video onto disc.

            Although it's already considered "old", my Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-burner cost me almost half what I paid for my first CD-burner!

              no i have a dvd burner, i just didn't want to waste a dvd if i had a video only 15 minutes long, but i just decided to go w/ svcd since its more compatible and still looks good.

                Well, DVD is more compatible than SVCD, looks better, and really, how much more expensive are DVD blanks than CD-Rs. You can buy ‘em for less than a dollar now.

                  I get spindles of 100 Princo's for $95 or less at computer shows. I had been using Memorex, but these Princos have been working good enough that maybe I can save a few bux.....
