  • wow....very interesting problem here folks...

    ok,

hopefully you all don't think i'm completely ignorant but i have a very weird problem going on...

i've used VideoTools 2.02, 2.10a and 3.00 and yield the same results. whenever i'm recording a video at 704x480 SP (and other modes) the video is smooth for the first 30 seconds. then it starts to "look" like it's running about 5-10fps. however, pc-vcr clearly shows 0 frames dropped. i watch the finished mpeg on various dvd players and get the same result. as bizzare as it sounds there's nothing i can do to make it stop. if someone has experienced a similar problem please give me some input.

    thanks as always!

      amd t-bird 1.2ghz
      512mb ram
      abit kt7a-raid mboard w/ latest drivers/bios
      winxp sp1
      matrox drivers 5.x (final)
      videotools 2.02, 2.10a, 3.00 tested

it USED to work with 2.10a and seems like i had problems after trying other versions. i even used the uninstall application that deletes all previous versions of videotools, etc.

Capture card? Soundcard? If it's a Soundblaster, you may have to experiment with different drivers for that as well. The problems relating to VIA chipset MBs and Soundblaster soundcards is well documented.

IIRC either Soundblaster, VIA, or another helpful agent offered a patch which supposedly fixed (or at least helped) the PCI bandwidth issue between Soundblaster and VIA. If you had this patch installed previously and now you don't, it could be the source of your troubles.

I've also heard that the Highpoint RAID controller on those MBs can be very twitchy.
