Just keep in mind its based on the same Zoran Mjpeg chip-set used in the Marvel G400, and you therefore will have similar issues - most of which will be related to the XP/W2K drivers being proprietary (Pinnacle Studio7 or 8 having to be used for input/output).
I would be extremely interested in that driver if you are indeed able to output via the DC10 from within any non-Pinnacle editor - such as Premiere or MSP or VS - does it work in parallel to the Pinnacle drivers or is it a replacement that also allows Studio to be used for example?
I can also direct a lot of traffic your way from customers wanting to do exactly that.
Will it work in W2K as well?
Should I e-mail you to get a copy of this tool of yours?
I have installed the hardware for a friend and as far as I can remember It has software MJPG compression and the DC 10 is infact comatible with WinXP. If there are other issues related to this hardware I wolud be pleased to be informed.
At the moment I have the G400-TV but as you all know its drivers are VFW directed.
No - just like the G400 Marvel, the DC10 has a hardware Mjpeg compressor based on the same Zoran chipset. The Marvel allowed one to grab raw video info before the compressor too though if you wanted - and that could be fed to a software Mjpeg compressor like PicVideo or Morgan etc - this you cannot do with the DC10 - its hardware MJpeg captures only.
Thus-far the DC10 has been W2K and XP compatible only because of rather custom WDM based drivers supplied by Pinnacle for use with their own Studio editing software - and lots of people have been bitching about the fact that the DC10 cannot be used to output while using Premiere etc as an editor - hence my question to Adis.
Can you remember wich version of Studio and drivers you installed - currently we are on Studio 8.8.14 and rather a lot of hassles has been sorted since the first versions were distributed on CD.
I remember at first I inatalld the DC 7 card and had a lot of problems.
That particular card has been faulty and has been replaced with DC 8. I am almost sure that it had Sudio 8 or perhaps 8.5, installed in WinXP.
I am begining to remember, but stand to be corrected. It captures in MJPG and decodes in whatever its options are, eg. MPG, DV, or other avi compression.
Perhaps I should stick to the Marvel or look elsewhere for a new capture card.
Unless you get it at a really good price or even for free, its most likely not worth the agro - especially if your intention is to not run Studio as your editing application and only means of outputting your edited material again.
I have given the driver Adis posted about a whirl in W2K (thanks for the link Adis) - Video Studio 6 seems to be happy to talk to the driver and capture successfully, but still refuse to output via the DC10 - Premiere 6.5 simply refuse to talk to it - at all. studio 8.8.14 does not seem to mind the driver - it still carries on as if nothing has changed and works really well.
