DVD authoring software?

At work, we recently purchased a Pioneer DVR-AO5U DVD-R/RW, which came bundled with MyDVD 4.
I have been trying to create a DVD of MPEGs I captured with a Pinnacle DC-10, but this software will not run properly. As soon as I start the app, I get an error saying it was unable to initialize the ASPI manager, and it will not burn to the DVD.
The drive works fine. I can burn data disks using Roxio EZCD with no problems.
I have tried many suggestions found on Sonic's forums, and nothing has helped. Updated the ASPI layer, reinstalled the software, checked the drive's firmware, isolated the drive on it's IDE channel, etc.

So...
Any ideas on resolving this issue (Sonic tech support has been absolutely worthless thus far), or any suggestions on a better DVD authoring software to get (cheap)?

Why do you need an ASPI manager? You using some kind of SCSI to IDE bridge for the drive? That's likely your problem if you are as these things are full of bugs once you get beyond hard drives and CDROMs.

Download the trial version of Nero. Author your DVD as either folders on the hard drive or an image (I use folders) and see if Nero will burn the disk.

I like Ulead DVD Movie Factory as a cheap authoring package, Its got some limititations and annoying bugs (at least in version 1) but it meets my needs as I only want simple menus. I think there is a trial you can download to see if it works.

I've a very low opinion of Adaptec/Roxio and Sonic.

No SCSI in the machine at all.
I have no idea why it thinks it needs it.
