Q about Hardware MJpeg

First, a heads-up: the download links will not work with Mozilla (for those who use it ), so IE is needed.

Now my question: The release notes for the drivers say that hardware MJpeg works but is not stable. Last year, I'd used the official Matrox drivers (Win2k) with an unofficial patch and hardware MJpeg worked well. Is stability in this release (3.02) significantly worse than the official drivers with the patch?

I ask because I have a G200 + RRG on a K6-2 550, so hardware MJpeg is essential for minimizing dropped frames. I know the 3.02 release has a lot of functionality absent from the official release, and I'm very appreciative of the development effort, but for my setup, hardware MJpeg trumps almost everything. I'd be grateful for any comments or experiences with this issue.

Thanks!

what to say... install and try.

if you don't like it - Uninstall is supported.

Sounds like eminently good advice

I'll try it in the next few days and post back with results for those who might be interested.

Thanks again for all the hard work!

I need some help with VT3.02 here.

I freshly installed WinXP Pro on WinME so that I can Dual-boot.

Drivers: 6.28+VT1.55 for WinME, and 5.88+ VT3.02 for WinXP.

The problem is about TV: I'm living in Hong Kong, and the locale setting of both versions were correctly set so. However, VT3.02 can't scan the stations correctly -- it got the correct channel numbers (21, 23, 25, 27 and 59), but only one of them was available for watching, where VT1.55 under WinME had perfect TV display.

Is that also some bug at work here?
(Ignore this babble if you don't know Detective Conan.)

I think I'd call all tri-headed cards "Hirokians", since... Hiroki Sawada definitively Tri-head!

So we have...
Matrox Parhelia Hirokia and
Matrox Millenium P750 Hirokia!

(But when can I REALLY have either of them? That's the question...)

A word of caution regarding VT 3.02 (and older versions)

It seems that VT3.02 install lacks the MSVCP60.DLL file

A few words about MSVCP60.DLL file:
DLL Name: Microsoft C Runtime Library
Description: Contains Standard C Library Functions such as printf, memcpy and cos
System DLL: No
File VER:
6.0.8168.0 on VisualStudio 6.0 (and on Matrox's original VT 2.04, Creative Live/Audigy drivers, Corel Draw, Norton Utilities/Ghost, etc)
or
6.0.8972.0 on VisualStudio 6.0 ServicePack 5 (and Windows XP SP1, etc)

Problem:
As Windows 2000 Pro (with any SP) doesn't come with MSVCP60.DLL, you will obtain the following error when installing Matrox driver+Adis's VT on a 2000 Pro fresh install:

PC-VCR.exe - Unable to Locate MSVCP60.DLL
The dynamic link library MSVCP60.dll could not be found in the specified path C:\Program Files\Matrox Video Tools...................

Workaround:
You can download the MSVCP60.dll from WWW (use google)
Pay attn to the file ver of MSVCP60.DLL, as Matrox uses ver 6.0.8168.0 on its original VT 2.04.
or
Install Matrox's original VT 2.04, copy MSVCP60.DLL to a tmp dir, uninstall VT 2.04, copy .dll from tmp dir to %SystemRoot%\System32, install Adis's VT 3.02.

Maybe you can put a file on your site with install instructions, or is it inclued ?

Yes, I got this problem on my freshly installed Win2000. I just surfed Internet, and downloaded whatever I could find MSVCP60.dll file and pasted in the directories mentioned in the error message. VT3.02 was reinstalled and now it works like a charm.

ADis, I got a question for you. Please help me to recall whether your VT3.02 on Win2000 is good for capturing into MJPEG files? Because last I tried, color was screwed up (red became blue) in captured image even though onscreen image was right in color(hue). thanks!

That's what's happened to me also after using Matrox TechSupport Tweak Utility (v5.02.04)...

But on my system blue become red / yellow become blue !?!?

I think this is question for Matrox Forums...
I'll try to find answer there...

Keep up the good work!

I just want to take this opportunity to thank adis for making the effort that Matrox Graphics wouldn't. For me, MJPEG capture now works beautifully. I'm running my G400-TV on an Epox 8K3A+/XP 1800+/SB Live! Platinum combo with Windows 2000 SP3 using the latest G400 driver (5.91.008) coupled with the 3.02 VT's.

The only thing that I haven't been able to do using these latest Video Tools is to output the PC-VCR image via DVDMax. I think I was able to do that using some earlier version of the Video Tools, but I must admit that I haven't tried too hard - so it might just be because of my "wrong" driver version or something like that.

Just a quick one:
Is there an alternative download location? - the download at http://adis.szm.com doesn't work for me, it just times out :-(

Not if you use Internet Explorer. Netscape fails most of the time.

Hi,
I've installed the vt3.02 and PD 5.91 on my G400 and RR-G setup. PC VCR works fine, but when I try to play back the captured video it seems it doesn't use the overlay. I can see the striping that come from fields and the processor usage is ~50% on an 1.9GHz Athlon. When playin back DIVX movies, the CPU usage is ~30%. DIVXG400 didn't help aswell. This is quite strange, because during the capture process the TV image on the VGA is very smooth, no stripes and CPU usage varies between 1-2%, but periodically it goes up to 30% sometimes.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanx in advance,
Chris

EDIT: OS is winXP Pro english with SP1 and DX9. Resolution is 1024x768x32bit, but lowering the depth to 16bit didn't help as well.
When converting a DIVX movie to Matrox2k3 codec the same symptom came up(CPU usage went up and stripes appeared). Enabling/disabling PICVideo codec didn't help as well.
