  • G400 TV and 24 vs 32 bith color depth

    Hello Group,

I have been trying to fix this problem for a long time, and read all over the board but couldn't find any problem alike.
For Videotools 3.02 or 3.0 you need 16 or 32 bith color depth.
For Clone mode to display any video files (using Matrox PC-VCR or Media player, you need 24 bit or the video will be blank on the TV.

Even worse, this means that PC-VCR isn't of much use when a TV is used as main display... because in 32 bit mode the video output is blanked...

Any idea whu video output is blaked in 16 or 32 bit mode? Reinstalling XP does not fix anything.

I use winXP Pro English with SP 1a. Also installed the latest BIOS for the G400 TV Marvel.

    Pleeease heeelp!

G series cards do not support hardware overlay on the second display.
16 bit and 32 bit color are hardware accelerated, and use a hardware overlay.
24 bit is NOT hardware accelerated, so I would guess it's falling back to a software overlay, which is allowing it to run on the second display.

Which is why the P-750 and Parhelia are so nice for video: two hardware and one software overlay.
