  • Render speed question...

Other then buy a better computer or a RT card is there a way to speed up the render process in Premiere 6?

If not, is there any RT cards out there under $200?

Ok, I guess that’s a no to both.

Well now I'm looking at getting an RT X10 and have only one question really. Will it help me on my system or do I need to up grade. The computer I will be using is a dual PIII 733, GeForce 440 and 1gb pc133 ram. I plan on up grading later, but will this work for now? Will I see the benefits of having an X10 in this system?

I would recommend reading what others have to say on the .x10 forum here: http://forum.matrox.com/cgi-bin/rtx10/ultimatebb.cgi

You can post in the pre-sales area.

      Ted

Rendering speed seems to depend on CPU and RAM mostly. Some video cards help, and in your case you should check on which programs use dual processors.
      Premiere PRO XP Pro
      Asus P4s533
      P4-2.8
      Matrox G450
      RT.x100
      45 GIG System Drive
      120 Export Drive
      Promise Fastrak 100(4x80 Maxtor)
      Turtle Beach Santa Cruz

      Toshiba Laptop
      17" P4-3 HT
      1024 RAM
      32 MEG GForce
      60 GIG 7200RPM HD
80 GIG EXT HD (USB 2/Firewire)

What motherboard and sound card do you have?

IIRC Matrox RTs won't work well if you have ANY VIA based mobo, because their PCI sucks, or Creative SB Live Audigy (I think) because it takes lots of PCI resorces... not good for demanding RT video stuff!

VIA chipsets are poison to realtime systems, hard or soft ware, because of their limited PCI bandwidth. This includes those systems with AMD northbridges and VIA southbridges.

nVidia chipped systems are also not acceptable for other reasons (AGP implementation). Ths SiS 655 for Intel CPU's is also not acceptable.

Intel, SiS (other than the 655) and 100% AMD chipped mainboards are the ones to look at.

The RT.X10 is a very nice card and combined with its ability to do analog bridge captures and display to its analog outputs the ourput of DirectShow software it's an excellent value.

Of course if you have the extra $$ the RT.X100 is a BEAST
