  • NLE cards for LINUX

    Well ..

    I've just ordered an AmigaONE MoBo ( G4 XE @ 800mhz) ..

Of course os4 isn't out yet but the board comes with Linux Debian (I think)

This might well be a good thing cos I can (theoretically) dip into the Linux pool for proggies that aint Available to Os4 yet.

What I would like to know is ....

Is there a Firewire card and NLE software available for PPC Linux that ~I could use on my A1 ??

Firewire: I understand that all reasonably recent versions of Linux have IEEE-1394 support in their kernel.

NLE: for a pro system, see http://www.cinelerra.com/

Yes 1394 has worked pretty well for me on RedHat 8 and Mandrake 9 & 9.1

Getting all the doodads needed for NLE is still a problem I've not had time to solve.

Kino didn't work on my RedHat 8 system.

I've used a couple of TI based 1394 cards and a recent Via based 1394 card without any real problems in Linux. My Buslink external CD burner sometimes isn't there when RedHat 8 boots but unplugging and replugging the 1394 connector fixes it -- only happens enough to be a minor annoyance.

I guess AndrewDV's posting on this groups answers your question.

How does Mainactor for Linux compare to windows editors??
