  • RTX10 lockups

Really need help. I have exhausted myself with this problem.

I am getting lockups in Adobe after a couple or three seconds of capture from VCR.

    My project settings are

General: Matrox RTX, Time base: 25, Time Display: 25fps timecode,

Current settings:Video settings:Compressor Matrox DV/DVCam, Frame size 720x576, Pixel aspect

ratio (1.067), Frame rate 25, Depth millions Quality 100%, Audio settings 48000,16 stereo,

Compressor Matrox RTX Audio, Render Options Field setting Upper field first,

Video: Matrox DV/DVCAM, Pixel aspect ratio D1/DV Pal(1.067)

Key Frame rendering ( all unchecked )

    AV inputs composite

I have had this with W2K and formatted reinstalled 6 times looking for errors in setup. No change. Wanted to kick up to WinXP which I have done (WXP SP1) The problem still exists.

Uninstalled Matrox tool and installed XTRA. Adobe hangs on loading when the XTools graphic kicks in.

No problems with capturing from Vid cam.

    Thanks in advance

Try disabling the Realtek ethernet card and see what happens.

Also: you're using Win2K SP1. The recommended setup is to use SP3.

Lots of improvements were made to Win2K from SP2 and beyond that effect editing.

      Thanks Doc

Tried the Ethernet disable. Nil result. No doubt the XTRA problem will be fixed with SP4.

Is there a download site for XP SP4 so I can keep the file on disk rather than go through the update process with each reinstall of the OS if I have to format

SP4 is for the original OS of Windows2000, not XP. XP is at SP1 and holding, so nothing you can do for that.

        If you want to try Win2k SP4 the link is here;

The list of your system specs don't reveal anything amiss other than the fact that the mainboard isn't on the "approved" list for the RT.X100. It's usually a real good idea to stick to that list as lots of boards that should work, don't.

Because of this you often find that $50 SiS based boards for $100 AthlonXP's work like a champ with the RT.X's but much more expensive combinations will fall on their arses regardless of the chipset and CPU type used. Just look at my system specs for an example.

If it were up to me from here I'd start disabling other things like embedded audio etc. and see if that makes a difference. Then I'd try removing the audio card and see if that has any effect.

To add to Doc's analysis, What PCI slot do you have all your cards installed in?

          Thanks,

I know there is a conflict somehow with your RT.X10 so I would suggest the following...

              1-First uninstall Xtools
2-Move the RT.X10 to the nearest PCI slot closest to the AGP.
              3-Reinstall Xtools.

              See if that works.

              Regards,

                I'll try that now.

I moved the sound card to another slot, disabled onboard sound in the bios, tried again in adobe, had some effect. The capture still locks after a couple or three seconds but the change is that the capture window now looks as if it is being viewd through a fly screen mesh ???

Put these words to a tune.

                  "happy days are here again
                  all the skies above
                  are clear again"

Downloaded latest drivers for the Millnium G550, and you guessed it, problem solved. Uninstalled Matrox Xtool, installed XTRA and everything is okay.

Thanks for all your input, I appreciate the interest you have taken in resolution. I hope someone else with a similar problem reads this.

                  Thanks
