  • Dropped frames on PC-VCR

    I recently tried PC-VCR on my G450eTV.

My PC is fairly new, and certainly not underpowered.

Just want to know - what is the current operation of PC-VCR with respect to the recorded audio vs video when frames are dropped?

    1. Does the corresponding "section" of audio get dropped also - so that the audio remains in sync with the video?

    2. Is the audio "bufferred" so that the entire audio capture is recorded intact - but due to missing frames, the video gets out of sync - i.e. plays ahead of the audio

    3. Is the audio capture recorded intact - but when frames are dropped, it just duplicates the previous frame resulting in jerky playback during dropped frames but audio and video remain in sync?

I'd appreciate user observations here so I can know what my system is doing "wrong".

    Here's a visualization:

Assume this is the original material (Caps are video and lowercase are corresponding audio) and some frames (vowels in this example) are dropped...

Hope somebody can tell me the way it's supposed to be in PC-VCR...

    Thanks in advance

I switched from WinME to WinXP to avoid shared interrupts, but some IRQ's are still shared (e.g. USB and G450eTV)

However, after installing all the latest drivers, service packs and patches, PC-VCR seems OK in recording for less than 1 hr. During prolonged recording sessions (2-1/2 hrs) , I found a number of dropped frames - I suspect it's because of the spanning as PC-VCR encounters the 4GB limit (am running on NTFS partition)

Generally, PC-VCR dropped frames issue on my AC-97 based audio has improved with an OS upgrade and fresh install.
