  • "Good Enough" Video Editor

I'm just getting started capturing video and burning to DVD. Currently, my goal is to simply capture my old VHS tapes and make simple (but with menus) DVDs. I have a Pinnacle PCTV capture card and a Sony DRU-120A DVD burner. I'm using Ulead's DVD MovieFactory 2. My system is an AMD Athlon 2000+ XP with 256 MB or RAM running Windows XP Pro.

I've been able to capture successfully and burn to DVDs. However, when I capture with DMF2 and then split or clip from either end, DMF2 reencodes the video. I don't want to do anything REALLY fancy but I'd like to be able to set the start and end points without having to reencode.

I can capture using VirtualVCR with Huffyuv but DMF2 doesn't accept that as input and it takes SOOOO much disk space (getting cheaper all the time).

Is there a "good enough for VHS" video editor that will let me set start and end points without having to reencode?
