  • HELP! G450 eTV + Win2k = no video capture?!

So I used to have a Marvel G400-TV and was never able to get Vid-tools running under Win2k. Well, we just had some lightning hit nearby and knocked out my old video card so I got the G450 eTV since I liked the DVDMax feature so much. I also figured that I would finally be able to capture video on my PC with the newer hardware (and what I thought would be newer software). Well, it still doesn't work! I get the error

"Matrox video hardware is currently unavailable. Other software may be using this hardware or they may not be enough graphics memory available."

It goes on to tell me to close other programs and lower my resolution, which of course do nothing to help this problem. I've done some searching and can't find anything, so I guess I am alone here? Anyone have some suggestions for me?

Hi, I've a G450 eTV on a Win2K Pro system and it records without problems with Vid-Tools (PCVCR) or AVI_IO. Did you uninstall your old drivers ? The hardware in the G450 eTV requires specific drivers since this card doesn't support hardware MJPEG compression.
    Hope this helps !
    Christian.

I didn't uninstall the old drivers, I just supplied the new drivers when Windows asked for them. Is there a procedure anywhere on how to completely remove the old drivers so I can try this out?

        ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/utils/pd_unin201.exe

        Matrox has an uninstaller.
