SP4 is now being downloaded, going really slow even on my 512Kbit broadband connection. I might not get a chance to try tonight.

I hope your hunch is correct and I can use your VT tools.

        Adis:

For those of us who've already installed SP4 then VT, are there any workarounds short of wiping/reinstalling? It's not crucial, but I wouldn't mind getting back the use of VNC

I just tried it and it worked!

I wasn't paying too much attention to SP4 install but I thought it rebooted my machine halfway through.

Anyway, when it booted up I did not get the STOP screen but got into Windows and managed to use your new PC-VCR, even did some recording!

I guess my results prove your hunch about some problem for Win2K people. I hope my time spent has been of use to you in tracking down the Win2K problem.

Thanks very much for your hard work Adis. I await the formal fix.

            system hang up problem.

Hi I still have the same problems as previously posted, but have noticed a few more. When I have captured video and try to shut down after my system hangs up part way through and wont shut down. I'm also encountering problems writing DVD's. This seems to be only after I've captured video and switched that of. it seems as though its leaving somthing on and the system can't shut down coz it can't shut that down.Anyway I've added some system spec to give you a clue. Maybe you can help me.
PS Is XP really worth all this hastle.I've lost a scanner, steering wheel game controler and the use ov my marvel G400 since so called up grading to XP.
            thanks Guys......Jim.

              Jim:

Start your system then run task manager and write down all the processes running by default. Now go and capture video, exit, then run task manager again and compare your process list to what you had before. It's tedious, but it might give you a clue what's preventing a shutdown.

Also, in Win2k, there's something called an 'Event Viewer' in administrative tools that will keep a log of all system warning and error messages. That may also give you a clue what the problem is (I'm sure XP has an equivalent tool).

And to answer your last question: No, if you're switching from 2K. Yes if you're switching from 9x/ME

The functional differences between XP and 2K are minimal or non-existent. Of course, that also means that in general if something gives you trouble in XP, there's a good chance it'll give you trouble in 2k.

              HTH,
              Tamer Abdelgawad

Just install SP4 again and reboot...

This will be fixed in 3.04 version.

Nope, didn't work. I'll just wait for 3.04

                  Thanks!

OMG, you've made my day. Before, I was using the Windows98 drivers with video tools and there's no sound when I capture using composite. Now I'm able to capture both video and sound as well as the ability to capture in MJPEG. I'm very grateful for your time and hard work in supporting the cards Matrox no longer supports. And, I'll definitely think about donating to keep this project alive. Thanks again, keep up the great work.

I know this is specific to hardware MJPEG because there were no artifacts when I captured to HuffyUV. It's not much of a problem; the top lines can be cropped/masked easily in TMPEnc.
I also have the same problem when I use the hardware MJPEG in PC-VCR. If I try to choose MJPEG as the format for other 3rd party capture programs like VirtualDub, Avi_IO it'll give me an error message saying not enough memory for I/O buffer (Avi_io), not sure about the virtualdub error message. My system is 2.4Ghz, Win2K Pro SP4, 512mb ram. If both of these problems can be fixed, It'll be so much better. But, i'm happy that there's a stable capture driver for Win2K/XP. Keep up the great work!

                              mjpeg capture problem

                              Hi,
First many thanks for the W2k drivers! Everything works fine, exept for mjpeg. I still have a problem to capture with mjpeg: the capture comes out completly scrambled and jerky and (thus) many dropped frames. Capturing with YUY2 works good (no dropped frames, perfect image quality), but I hope to be able to capture with mjpeg. Any solution?

                              System:
                              AOpen AK73-1394(A), AMD 1GHz
                              Marvel G400TV
                              W2k, SP4
                              Powerdesk 5.82
                              VT 3.03

Fresh install (SP4 after VT etc.)

Capture a few seconds of full resolution MJPEG video with PC-VCR.

Export single frame from your favorite VE program and attach it here.

Did You install mobo chipset drivers ?
Do You have a separate partition for capturing ?
