I originally posted this on DMN Forums but have not had any responses so I am trying here....(OK, I only waited about 36 hours but quite a few other topics have been posted above it and I guess people might miss it)

Hi
I am using MSP6.5DC on Win2K SP3 using Asus K7-V mobo and Athlon-900.
As you can tell this is pretty slow and my wife was complaining at the jerky SOURCE window display. I thought, I'll bring my 14" TV downstairs and set it up as DVDMax to show the video file fullscreen on the TV.
I find that I cannot do it. I have got Matrox drivers 5.82 and VT 2.04 (if that means anything to you). MediaPlayer and PowerDVD both output to the TV so I know it is working.
Can someone tell me what I am missing? Or point me in the right direction.
Thanks

I found the answer in a newsgroup posting by Jerry Jones on 25 Oct 2002 "Re: Previewing problem with Media Studio Pro 6" (his advice was for 6.5 - which I have)
This now raises a new question.
Previously I was watching the Source Window and pausing/rewinding to get exact start/stop frame positions and then pressing F5 to make a cue marker at these frames. Do that for the whole project and finally select "Cut By Cue". Delete every other clip as these are the "I don't want this bit" portions. Someone suggested A/B roll to split the good bits into Va and "I don't want" bits into Vb.
With Jerry's suggestion I am now going to have to turn off Instant Play and Quick Play and use the Preview Window instead. I have had a quick go at it and it seems I am best watching the TV without stopping it and pressing F5 "round-about where I want". At the end of the project I will need to go back to each cue and then fine tune the exact clips. How would I then "Cut by Cue"? I tried looking for something like that but got no joy.
This new method gets me my TV output but I am not sure of the best way to progress.
I want to just cut out the rubbish and once I've done all that then move towards putting transitions in at which point the actual video content is less important, i.e. a small preview window is acceptable. I would then probably want Instant Play turned on.
Any help would be most appreciated.
