Try looking on some older driver or application install CDs. I think it was included on many Matrox Video Tools install discs, among others.

      Hi Debbie,
I am afraid there is no DirectX7.1.
I searched in my CD archive and found that at the end of 2000 there is a
      DirectX7.0, File version 4.71.1711.0 & Product version 4.07.00.0700, 6164 KByte English
      and
      DirectX7.0A, File version 4.71.1711.0 & Product version 4.07.1711.0, 6194 KByte English
      Followed by DirectX8.0

I try to guess that 7.0A = 7.1, but I am not sure.
I have all of them and I can send them to you, just tell me.

The first match on Google says:

"DirectX 7.1 is a part of the default Windows ME installation."

I don't think it is available separately, although 7.1 documentation is available as a download from the MS site.

Are you sure that DirectX 8 won't work?

Thank you all for your interest.

My son has been having problems with Photoshop in the form of artifacts. At first glance I have had the impression that it has been caused by the DX 8 upgrade introduced by the Audigy 1 software.

The problem infact is with the b....y Audigy 1 sound card drivers.

I did a fresh installation of Win ME and installed Photoshop before the Audigy 1 drivers and had no problems. Then I installed DX 8 and still no problems. Finally installed the Audigy software and drivers and the artifacts appeared again.

I will have to find a way around that, I suppose !!

              Regards,

              Debbie

                Good luck!!

Although I can see NO reason what so ever, for a sound card driver to mess with the grafix of a program, Creative is renowed for their inovative drivers.
